Zimbabwean controversial socialite Felistas Murata aka Mai TT celebrates her 37th birthday today. Unlike other years, she is celebrating her special day in prison. Mai TT is known for extravagant birthday parties and 2023 is different.

Mai TT is serving a 6-months and 3-months jail term for fraud and failing to complete a community service sentence for a previous crime. She is entangled in various disputes with potential to face more criminal charges.
Marking her birthday, she has penned a heart-felt note to her followers shared on her social media platform. In her note she pointed out that she once had a desire to learn about female prison situation in Zimbabwe and had requested to be put in cells to experience the real situation. It was denied. It seems her wish was granted by the universe as she now is indeed facing reality as an incarcerated real criminal.

Her note reads, “It’s funny how I made a request 2 ago when I visited Chikurubhi female prison, donating goods to my fellow women in custody, I asked that Authorities to grant me the permission to be remanded in custody along with others because I wanted to see, feel , understand how they survived in this uncomfortable place. My request was denied as they told me I could only be remanded if I commit a crime. 2 years later today I’m writing this letter from Prison because of a mistake I made which turned to be a crime. Now I can see, feel , experience what it is to be in prison. I will tell you all about it when I’m out, today is not the right day as I’m celebrating my birthday. I turned 37 years behind bars and I’m going to enjoy with my inmates. I know some of you miss me and I genuinely miss you too. I thank God for taking me this far even if im in a dungeon i still thank Him. Every mistake I made in life is a lesson and indeed im learning and growing. Got loads of stories to tell you when I see you again. In the meantime let me enjoy my birthday. Celebrate it along with me and always remember I Love You❤. Female prisoners face a number of challenges as reported in several news outlets and research. One of the problems involves mothers with young children in prisons. One research showed that mothers leave their babies at the nursery every morning, and do not get to breastfeed and spend time with them as much as they would want. We hope Mai TT will be the voice when she is out, and it will all be for the good.

Been there we were sentenced to 4years but at the end God is the greatest.We only spend one month, our lawyers appealed against the judgement at the High Court and we were acquitted.But my days there were the most dark and horrifying days of my life but it turns out to be the best blessing in my life.If I didn’t go there maybe today day I would be dead or maybe in a worst situation.Although it hurts I think it was for the best sometimes we learn the hard way.Happy birthday as for me I just wish that you carry on been strong, you come out alive and healthy for your family’s sake.
