Minister of Trade and Industry, Mark Katsonga Phiri has said Government is supporting SME’s to access resources that will enable them to contribute towards the industrialisation agenda being championed by Tonse Alliance.
Briefing journalists in Lilongwe today, the Minister said in an effort to empower local Malawians, the Government is promoting products made in Malawi through Buy-Malawi Strategy (BMS) and Market linkages program, which will go long way to enhance import substitution and affirmatively promote job creation, protect foreign exchange reserves and revitalize the local industries.

He also disclosed that government intends to re-establish the Malawi Development Corporation (MDC) to increase government participation and investment in critical sectors that are the backbone of our economy.
Katsonga further indicated that government has introduced the automated Business Licensing System and a remote payment window is being established to support Malawians residing in remote areas.
