AFCON 2021 FIRST GOAL SCORER

The Africa Cup of Nations is the first big football tournament of 2022. It was initially scheduled for 2021 but was postponed to 2022 due to the pandemic. The defending champions are Algeria.

The much awaited African soccer showcase, Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2021)kicked off yesterday with the host Cameroon securing a top spot in Group A after following from behind to beat Burkina Faso 2-1. Burkina Faso had taken the lead in the 24th minute via Gustavo Sangare carrying jersey number 20.


WHO IS THE FIRST GOAL SCORER OF AFCON 2021?
The 25-year old midfielder became the first goal scorer of the tournament after putting Burkina Faso in the lead in the 24th minute of the match. Gustavo Fabrice Sangare is a Burkina Faso professional footballer born 8th November 1996. He currently plays for a French club Quevilly Rouen, Ligue2 and according to his profile, the contract ends June 30th 2023.


Soon after the match Sangare took to social media and wrote, “ It is a great honor and a great pride for me to have scored the first CAN goal for my country. A little disappointed with the outcome of the game but still not discouraged. We will always give our best to make the country proud.”
Burkina Faso will play Cabo Verde on the 14th of January while Cameroon plays Ethiopia on same day.
