D.R Congo Squad to Clash with Morocco in FIFA World Cup 2022 Playoff


The head coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Hector Cuper named his squad that will face Morocco in the play-off for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Striker Yannick Bolasie who plies his trade with Turkish Süper Lig club Çaykur Rizespor is among the players invited for the double header.

The first leg is slated to take place on March 25 at the Martyrs Stadium in  Kinshasa. The Leopards will then travel for the return leg to be played on March 29th at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Stadium.

Veteran coach Cuper also invited Cédric Bakambu who features for Ligue 1 club Marseille.

“We know facing Morocco will not be that easy, but the players are determined to go and give their best because this is another chance to qualify for the FIFA World Cup,” said the DR Congo coach.

Skipper Dieumerci Mbokani who features for Kuwait Premier League side Kuwait SC and netted four goals in the group stage of the qualifiers has also been invited.

To reach the final phase of the qualifiers, DR Congo topped Group J ahead of Benin, Tanzania and Madagascar.
