Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones’ marriage has come to an end.
The news was announced by Minnie on her social media pages on Tuesday afternoon.
In a statement, the South African TV personality said the decision came after both of them suffered great loss during the past two years.
“In the last 2 years our family has experienced incredible joy and devastating loss. During this time, we found comfort in knowing we had each other. Despite our better efforts to absorb the changes in motion, the emotional burden and the post-traumatic distress of our individual loss outweighed our will,” read the statement.
She says the couple decided to divorce after consulting their family members and going through counselling.
“After months of separation and consultations with our family and counsellor, we have taken the decision to officially file for divorce.”
She added that it was not an easy decision to make.
“This was a difficult decision to come to and even more heart-breaking to have to announce,” she wrote.
However, the star says the two of them remain on good terms.
“Despite the end of our marriage and romantic relationship, we remain friends, business partners and loving parents to our beautiful son.”
She has asked for privacy as they deal with the divorce.
“In the wake of this news, we ask that you please grant us privacy during this difficult time.”
Minnie and Quinton got married in a lavish wedding in 2017.
The couple are blessed with a son.
Last year, during their fourth year anniversary, Minnie hinted that things have not been easy.
“Marriage is not easy and there are many times we’ve both wanted to call it quits but it’s days like today that remind us of the promise we made to each other. Love you Baba kaNetha,” she wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
